In 1992 UNESCO inscribed Samos’s Pythagoreion and Heraion. The listing is a completed conservation-access act. He did not file 1992. The name on the harbour is later civic memory.

Context

Tourism and conservation fight on the same mole. Split mis-attribution of the tunnel.

Pythagoras is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.

Why it matters

A 1992 World Heritage polygon is not a birth file.
