Context
Roman war-ethnography of a recently sacked city is the setting. Rights here is the type-gallery, parallel to Germania’s stereotypes but aimed at a different people. Knowledge of the war’s outline could have been an improving twin; it is not cloned. The Batavian revolt sits in Histories 4–5 as another theatre.
Why it matters
A school-canonical anti-Jewish ethnography in a civil-war history is a rights path. High confidence on the Latin; empirical dependence on earlier topoi is likely. Later misuse must not be dated as a Tacitus-in-1933 act.
