On 28 January 1919, in the same Munich lecture that defined responsible politics, Max Weber taught charisma as a source of legitimate domination beside machine and tradition, a vocabulary a defeated public could hear as a call for a leader as well as a warning. He warned about the ethic of conviction. He also glamourised vocation and leader-selection. Later misuses are reception; the 1919 text still names charisma as political fuel.
Context
Bavaria had just had Eisner. Students wanted a saviour. Weber offered a colder fire that still burned. Sharing the Bund’s hall does not erase the typology.
Confidence is stated on the impact path, not hidden in adjectives. Charisma in 1919 is not the suffrage writings of 1918. Mixed effects of Politik als Beruf teaches charisma as a leadership source in a defeated Germany are separate paths.
