In February 2020 a large sum of foreign currency was stolen from a sofa at President Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala game farm. The theft was not immediately reported to police in the ordinary way. It is not a criminal conviction. NPA later declined to prosecute; Parliament and courts later reopened procedure.

Context

He was already president. Neighbouring 2022 Section 89 and 2026 ConCourt are children. He did not sit as SAPS.

2018 oath is the parent. 2026 ConCourt is a child procedure.

The President of South Africa heads the national executive, appoints Cabinet, and assents to bills. He does not write an Eskom generation print, an NPA charging decision, a DA court challenge, or a US executive order by himself. Phala Phala cash in a sofa is not a completed criminal verdict unless a court so holds.

Why it matters

The path is democratic resilience: a completed undeclared-cash-and-theft file under a sitting president, remaining later nolle and impeachment as children.

What the sources establish

The Presidency of South Africa carries the official instrument or communique. Africa Check records the same dated act independently.

Established: February 2020 theft of foreign cash at Phala Phala, independently reconstructed; he owned the farm.

Not established: a unique criminal verdict, or that every dollar’s source was thereby proven as a unique later predicate offence.

Staff and security share the concealment file. SAPS and later NPA share the charging file.. A later repeal, court stay, or successor order would be a different Fact with a different date. That pair identifies Foreign currency is stolen from a sofa at Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm, not a later speech about Foreign currency is stolen from a sofa at Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm.

Co-authors and later implementers named in Context remain on the file. If a later repeal, stay, or successor instrument exists, it needs its own date and its own row. The contribution described on this Person row is limited to The cash sat on his farm. That limit is the alternative to treating office-holding as authorship of every later series.
