Net harmfulFormula-derived score

The through-line is an extra-constitutional interim: Bangabhaban oath, a police path after post-uprising attacks on minorities, delayed-election fights, then a gazetted handover to Tarique Rahman. Hasina and Tarique are unresolved. Labour-court sentence of 1 January 2024 was acquitted on 7 August.

Editorial assessment (context, not the score)

The heaviest documented costs sit on extra-constitutional caretaker power and the police path after minority attacks, not on a banker adjective.

First, the oath. On 8 August 2024 President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to Yunus and thirteen advisers at Bangabhaban, three days after Hasina fled (Reuters (opens in a new tab)). Student leaders sat in the council. That is a completed extra-constitutional interval, not a unique July body-count as his Contribution.

Second, minorities and handover. HRW recorded attacks on Hindu homes, businesses and temples as Hasina fled (HRW (opens in a new tab)). On 11 August the cabinet stated grave concern (Al Jazeera (opens in a new tab)). He did not order the attacks. He owned the police path after 8 August. On 17 February 2026 the Advisory Council was gazetted dissolved and Tarique Rahman took oath. That completed handover is recorded. It is not plus-padding of 11 August.

Hasina and Tarique remain unresolved. The 1 January 2024 labour sentence was acquitted on 7 August; it is neighbouring Hasina-era court weather. Confidence is high on oath, HRW, cabinet statement, and gazette, and medium where student militants sit between a signature and a welfare series. This paragraph is an assessment of those paths, not a substitute number.

Identity and office

Muhammad Yunus was chief adviser of Bangladesh from 8 August 2024 to 17 February 2026. He founded Grameen Bank, shared the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize with the bank, and was removed as managing director in 2011. Sheikh Hasina is unresolved. Tarique Rahman, who took oath as prime minister on 17 February 2026, is unresolved. This run does not mint them.

The office is extra-constitutional. An Advisory Council is not a five-year elected cabinet. That limit is the first fact about his 2024–26 power. The second is that student leaders put him in Bangabhaban after Hasina fled, and that a general election then returned a party government.

The police-path file is dated. Attacks on Hindu homes, businesses and temples began as Hasina fled on 5 August 2024, before he took office. Human Rights Watch recorded them on 8 August, the day of his oath, and told the new government to protect rights (HRW (opens in a new tab)). On 11 August the cabinet’s first official statement noted the attacks with grave concern and said it would sit with representative bodies (Al Jazeera (opens in a new tab)). He did not order the attacks. A chief adviser still owned the police path after 8 August. Defendant headcounts are contested and are not supplied as Contribution.size.

The oath file is official. Reuters and AP recorded the 8 August Bangabhaban ceremony (Reuters (opens in a new tab)). Student advisers sat in the council. Hasina’s Awami League was not in the room. That is a completed extra-constitutional interval, not a civic miracle and not authorship of Hasina’s flight.

Election-timing fights through 2025 are neighbouring delay-and-announce weather on the same interval. An ICT death-sentence process against Hasina is a neighbouring tribunal his government enabled; he did not sit as the judge. Fair-trial critiques stay on the record without converting him into the chamber.

A 1 January 2024 labour-court six-month sentence over Grameen Telecom wage files was acquitted on 7 August 2024, the day before the oath. He called the sentence political. This page stores it as neighbouring Hasina-era court weather, not as a unique crime coefficient and not as plus-padding of 11 August.

Documented benefits

The offsets that a commissioned-positive portrait would lead with are real only where dated. The 17 February 2026 gazette dissolving the Advisory Council and Tarique Rahman’s oath are a completed return to a party government (Daily Star (opens in a new tab); Al Jazeera (opens in a new tab)). That handover is recorded. It is not a rebate of the police-path failure. Grameen’s 1983 ordinance and the 2006 Nobel are neighbouring identity, not this interim Contribution.

Contributions and limits of responsibility

He took the 8 August oath. He chaired the 11 August cabinet statement. He stepped down for the 17 February gazette. He did not order the 5 August attacks. He did not sit as an ICT judge. He does not write New Delhi’s extradition file. Sharing a student cabinet is not a reason to drop the police-path row.

Causal chain through facts

8 August 2024 is extra-constitutional caretaker. 11 August 2024 weakens civic space via a police path after documented minority attacks. 17 February 2026 strengthens capacity for peaceful transfer by completing a handover after an election. He is not a Ukraine co-belligerent. He connects to those mechanisms only through dated facts, not as a tag on a personality.

What the score does not say

This page does not promise an exact number. Direction on the police-path cluster is negative. Direction on the handover is positive as a completed transfer. A later ICT fairness judgment or a unique communal-attack census would be a different fact. Sheikh Hasina and Tarique Rahman remain names on this file, not invented biographies.
