On 17 December 2023 Chile voted on the Constitutional Council’s proposed text. The Council had been dominated by the Republican Party after the May 2023 election. President Boric’s coalition campaigned against the text. Together with 4 September 2022 it leaves the 1980 constitution in force.

Context
