The Amarna Project begins sustained archaeological publication of Akhetaten
From 1977 Barry Kemp’s Amarna Project and successors have excavated and published Akhetaten as an ongoing scientific programme, putting house plans, worker village data, and royal-name inscriptions into the public research record. In the causal graph this event strengthens Digital Learning Access, a driver that weakens Learning Poverty Rate (low- and middle-income countries) — an improving welfare path.

From 1977 Barry Kemp’s Amarna Project and successors have excavated and published Akhetaten as an ongoing scientific programme, putting house plans, worker village data, and royal-name inscriptions into the public research record. Nefertiti’s names appear in that record. She did not design the 1977 concession.
Context
Earlier work by Petrie, Pendlebury, and Borchardt was episodic. A standing project changed the density of published evidence about the city where Nefertiti was Great Royal Wife. Worker-village osteology later complicated royal propaganda. That complication is a gain for evidence, not a morality play.
Nefertiti is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.
Why it matters
Knowledge-access path. High confidence on the programme existing. Medium on any welfare lag.
Better archaeology can document both queenly display and labour cost. Split those paths.

What the sources establish
The Amarna Project site is the official programme record. The Met’s Amarna Heilbrunn essay independently frames the city’s archaeology.
Established: a sustained Amarna field programme has published since the late 1970s. Not established: that Nefertiti authorised it.
