In late 1820, dated 1821, Hegel issued Grundlinien der Philosophie des Rechts, the Berlin textbook whose preface and state chapters taught that the rational is actual — a restoration-era public philosophy of ethical life and monarchy. It is not the 1817 Encyclopaedia outline, not student lecture notes, and not Marx’s later critique, which is posthumous reception. He wrote; printers sold a state-philosophy to students and officials. Fries denunciation in the preface is stored as a neighbouring justice kick, not as a second copy of the whole textbook.

Context

After Karlsbad, a chair’s textbook on right is police-age theory. Apologetics here means a published argument that the Prussian-type state is reason’s shape, not a claim that Hegel invented secret police. Property, corporation, and constitutional monarchy are the book’s furniture. Popular sovereignty is not its hero. Popular sovereignty is not the hero; Marx’s later critique is not a co-author; Gans’s later edition is not 1821.

Why it matters

High confidence on 1820/21. Modest-to-medium weight because a book is not a decree, but this book was the official school. Berlin lectures as shared listening remain a cohesion neighbour. Marx is not a lifetime affiliation.

He published the 1820/21 Right as a Berlin textbook of the state. The shop issued it. Complex author of a restoration-era state philosophy, not the policeman.

What the sources establish

Internet Archive holds a public-domain Philosophy of Right. SEP’s social-political entry independently dates the 1820/21 book and treats its state theory in the restoration setting, including the preface’s political weather. Official/public carrier: https://archive.org/details/cu31924014578979 (opens in a new tab). Independent: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/hegel-social-political/ (opens in a new tab). The records establish the 1821 textbook. They do not establish a unique later democracy-index movement caused by the book alone. Marx’s critique is reception; Carlsbad is weather he did not legislate. A contradictory first-edition year would change the row.

Established: Hegel published Elements of the Philosophy of Right in 1820/21. A suppressed 1821 edition story would need a locator; the locators show a published textbook. A showing of a suppressed 1821 edition would change the row.

Confidence is stated on the impact path, not hidden in adjectives. Philosophy of Right is not the 1817 Encyclopaedia and not Marx. Mixed effects of Hegel publishes Elements of the Philosophy of Right are separate paths.

Later competitions, monuments, translations, UNESCO listings, museums, and adaptations are not converted into extra lifetime acts.

That reading is an impact-path choice, not a property stored on the Fact itself.

Shared responsibility is part of Hegel publishes Elements of the Philosophy of Right. Naming Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel does not delete co-authors, institutions, or later transmitters. The lag from 1821-01-01 to any measured indicator is not treated as zero. Alternative explanations — weather, other armies, later statutes, or independent cultural change — remain live where the sources do not close them.
