On 3 May 2021 an elevated girder on Mexico City Metro Line 12 collapsed between Olivos and Tezonco, killing 26 people and injuring 98. Claudia Sheinbaum was Head of Government. Construction sat under Marcelo Ebrard’s earlier city term.

Context

Sheinbaum commissioned DNV. Later reports named construction defects and maintenance gaps. Neighbouring 2024 presidency is later. She did not design the 2012 line.
