On 9 May 2023 paramilitary Rangers arrested Imran Khan outside the Islamabad High Court. PTI crowds then attacked military and civilian sites, including the GHQ area in Rawalpindi and the corps commander’s house in Lahore. He denies ordering the violence.

Context

The arrest was in the Toshakhana file. Shehbaz was prime minister. Military courts for civilians followed on Shehbaz’s row. Incitement as Khan’s personal order is not stored as established without a finished judgment that says so.

The 5 August 2023 rearrest is a later custody row. Shehbaz’s military-court cabinet decision is on Shehbaz’s row.

A former prime minister in prison does not write National Assembly statutes, IMF board decisions, or GHQ orders. An appeal is not an acquittal. A medical note is not a conviction. A party video is not a completed steal of 2024. A jail hospital corridor is not a cabinet.

Why it matters

The path is democratic resilience and political polarization: a completed arrest-plus-riot day is a civic-and-security shock, with authorship of the riot itself not stored as his completed order.

What the sources establish

Inter-Services Public Relations carries the official instrument or communique. Reuters records the same dated act independently.

Established: a 9 May 2023 Rangers arrest and contemporaneous attacks on military sites, independently reported. He denies ordering the attacks.

Not established: that he radioed the attacks as a completed fact, or a unique later casualty coefficient as his personal count.

Rangers arrested. GHQ was the target. Shehbaz’s cabinet later chose military courts.. A later repeal, court stay, or successor order would be a different Fact with a different date. That pair identifies Khan’s 9 May 2023 arrest is followed by attacks on military installations, not a later speech about Khan’s 9 May 2023 arrest is followed by attacks on military installations.

Co-authors and later implementers named in Context remain on the file. If a later repeal, stay, or successor instrument exists, it needs its own date and its own row. The contribution described on this Person row is limited to He was the arrested principal whose party crowd rioted. Rangers arrested. GHQ was the target. That limit is the alternative to treating office-holding as authorship of every later series.
