Edison chairs the Naval Consulting Board in wartime mobilisation
In 1915 the United States Navy established a Naval Consulting Board with Edison as president, to screen inventions and advise on industrial research in the World War. In the causal graph this event strengthens Energy Security, a driver that strengthens Poverty headcount ratio at $3.00 a day (2021 PPP) (% of population) — a worsening welfare path.

In 1915 the United States Navy established a Naval Consulting Board with Edison as president, to screen inventions and advise on industrial research in the World War. It is an advisory organisation, not a combat command.
Context
Submarine warfare and industrial munitions made civilian laboratories politically useful. The board’s minutes and Navy files are.
Thomas Edison is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.
Why it matters
Security-industrial path. High confidence on the chairmanship; medium on any particular device adopted.
An advisory chair is not an admiral. Keep the limit.
Who was responsible

He accepted the civilian chair. The Navy and other inventors sat on the board; it did not command fleets.
