In the 1890s Edison built and ran a magnetic iron-ore concentrating plant at Ogden (Edison), New Jersey. It did not compete with Mesabi ore. The works closed after heavy losses. This Fact stores the extractive venture, not a personality of stubbornness.
Context
Low-grade New Jersey ore plus Edison’s crushing and magnetic separation looked like a way to feed eastern steel. Minnesota ore and transport costs won. Labour and landscape damage at the site are part of the independent park and papers record.
Thomas Edison is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.
