In 1894 Max Weber, then thirty, became ordinary professor of political economy at Freiburg, leaving a Berlin legal-academic track for a teaching chair. Lecture notes later edited in MWG III show worker question and finance courses. A chair is not a party office.
Context
German economics chairs were state offices in an unreformed Kaiserreich. Lujo Brentano’s generation of Kathedersozialisten was the neighbourhood, not a party whip. Marianne Schnitger had married him in 1893. Household labour is named, not erased. The 1895 inaugural’s polarisation is a separate row.
If a number is not in the two records named above, it is not supplied here.
