On 3 April 2026 Myanmar’s junta-managed parliament elected Min Aung Hlaing president with 429 of 584 votes after a military-controlled general election. He had left the Commander-in-Chief post ahead of the vote and took the presidential oath on 10 April.

Context

Amnesty warned the same week that a presidency must not shield him from accountability and noted the ICC application remained pending. Nyo Saw and Nan Ni Ni Aye are unresolved. This run does not mint them.

Parliamentary vote 3 April; oath 10 April 2026. Store the election as the instrument date. Keep Junta-managed parliament elects Min Aung Hlaing president on 2026-04-03 separate from neighbouring 25 August 2017 Rakhine operations, 1 February 2021 coup, 25 July 2022 hangings, 11 April 2023 Pazigyi strike, 10 February 2024 conscription, and 3 April 2026 parliamentary elevation.

The Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services from 2011, SAC chairman from 2 February 2021 to 31 July 2025, and president from 10 April 2026 can order clearance operations, a coup, hangings, airstrikes, and a draft. That office does not sit as an ICC judge, does not write an ICJ order, and a contested casualty estimate is not converted here into Contribution.size.

Why it matters

The path is electoral integrity and transfer: a completed junta-managed elevation sold as a civilian presidency, not a competitive handover.

What the sources establish

Ministry of Information of Myanmar carries the official instrument or communique. The New York Times records the same dated act independently.

Established: Parliament elected him president on 3 April 2026; he was sworn in on 10 April, independently recorded.

Not established: That the 2025–26 poll was free and fair, or that the presidency opened civic space or vacated the ICC application.

The assembly composition is the junta’s. Aung San Suu Kyi remained detained and unresolved.. A later repeal, court stay, or successor order would be a different Fact with a different date. That pair identifies Junta-managed parliament elects Min Aung Hlaing president, not a later speech about Junta-managed parliament elects Min Aung Hlaing president.

Co-authors and later implementers named in Context remain on the file. If a later repeal, stay, or successor instrument exists, it needs its own date and its own row. The contribution described on this Person row is limited to He stood, won the stacked ballot, and took the oath. The assembly composition is the junta’s. Aung San Suu Kyi remained detained and unresolved. That limit is the alternative to treating office-holding as authorship of every later series.
