On 17 August 2025 Bolivia held a general election. Luis Arce had announced on 14 May that he would not seek re-election; the same day the TCP upheld the Morales term-limit bar. MAS ran interior minister Eduardo del Castillo. The ticket collapsed to a few percent of the presidential vote and two seats in the Chamber of Deputies. Rodrigo Paz and Jorge Quiroga advanced to a 19 October runoff. Fuel and dollar shortages from 2023–2025 sat as parent weather. Quote BCB/INE.
Context

Keep MAS collapses in the 17 August 2025 first round after Arce’s May withdrawal on 2025-08-17 separate from neighbouring 26 June 2024 palace hour, 14 November 2024 TCP MAS resolution, 14 May 2025 withdrawal, 17 August 2025 first round, 8 November 2025 handover, and 10 December 2025 arrest.
The president of Bolivia is head of state, head of government, and commander-in-chief. He can appoint military commanders, propose budgets, and stand as a MAS candidate. He does not sit as a TCP magistrate, a TSE precinct printer, or a BCB teller.

What the sources establish
Órgano Electoral Plurinacional of Bolivia carries the official instrument or communique. Reuters records the same dated act independently.
Established: Arce withdrew on 14 May 2025; the 17 August first round collapsed MAS to a few percent and two deputy seats; Paz and Quiroga went to a runoff.
Not established: A unique later CPI coefficient from that Sunday, or that every fuel queue is this same night.
He had withdrawn. Del Castillo stood. Voters chose. Morales remained barred.. A later repeal, court stay, or successor order would be a different Fact with a different date. That pair identifies MAS collapses in the 17 August 2025 first round after Arce’s May withdrawal, not a later speech about MAS collapses in the 17 August 2025 first round after Arce’s May withdrawal.
Co-authors and later implementers named in Context remain on the file. If a later repeal, stay, or successor instrument exists, it needs its own date and its own row. The contribution described on this Person row is limited to TSE counted. He had withdrawn. Del Castillo stood. Voters chose. Morales remained barred. That limit is the alternative to treating office-holding as authorship of every later series.
