In 1586 Bruno found a teaching welcome at Wittenberg, lecturing in the Lutheran university after leaving France and before the more conflictual German stays. It is not Helmstedt’s 1589 quarrel, not Prague, and not the 1591 Italian return. A Protestant faculty heard a Nolan; he praised the house in farewell orations. The row stores an education post. Later closings are other dates. A wandering lecturer who is allowed a room is still a public teacher.

Context

Confessional universities sometimes hosted a useful anti-Aristotelian. Education here is that hospitality, not a conversion. Frankfurt printers and Prague Rudolphine curiosity are neighbouring stops. Helmstedt’s later closing is a polarizing neighbour; Luther is not a colleague; 1600 is not Wittenberg policy.

Later competitions, monuments, translations, UNESCO listings, museums, and adaptations are not converted into extra lifetime acts.

Why it matters

Improving education path: a Protestant university room. High confidence on the mid-1580s stay. Modest weight. Helmstedt conflict remains a later polarizing closing. Italian return remains a risk row.

Confidence is stated on the impact path, not hidden in adjectives. Wittenberg teaching is not the 1589 Helmstedt conflict. Mixed effects of Bruno teaches at Wittenberg are separate paths.

He lectured at Lutheran Wittenberg and was briefly welcomed. The university hosted. Complex visiting professor, not Luther and not a later German chair.

What the sources establish

Halle-Wittenberg’s public English pages locate the institutional heir of Wittenberg University. SEP independently dates Bruno’s Wittenberg teaching in 1586–88 before further German wanderings. Official: https://www.uni-halle.de/en/ (opens in a new tab). Independent: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/bruno/ (opens in a new tab). Britannica corroborates. The records establish a Wittenberg stay. They do not establish a unique later enrolment series. A skip of Wittenberg would change the row; Helmstedt is not this welcome; Luther is not a colleague. A showing he never taught at Wittenberg would change the row.

Established: Bruno taught at Wittenberg in the mid-1580s. Not established: a permanent chair, or that 1589 Helmstedt is this welcome. A skip of Wittenberg would change the row. A contradictory itinerary skipping Wittenberg would change the row.

Shared responsibility is part of Bruno teaches at Wittenberg. Naming Giordano Bruno does not delete co-authors, institutions, or later transmitters. The lag from 1586-01-01 to any measured indicator is not treated as zero. Alternative explanations — weather, other armies, later statutes, or independent cultural change — remain live where the sources do not close them.

That reading is an impact-path choice, not a property stored on the Fact itself.
