In 1926 Clarendon Press issued Bailey’s Greek-English Extant Remains with commentary. The book is a completed teaching edition beside Loeb Diogenes. It is not a new papyrus find.
Context
Bailey’s commentary made the letters usable in anglophone philosophy courses. It also smoothed a system out of fragments. Use it as access, not as a photograph of 300 BCE.
Epicurus is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.
Why it matters
A 1926 Oxford remains volume is a classroom access path.
