On 30 December 2011 the National Assembly adopted Act CCVI of 2011 on the right to freedom of conscience and religion and on the legal status of churches, which entered into force in 2012 and deregistered hundreds of recognised churches unless a two-thirds Assembly re-recognised them. In the causal graph this event strengthens Illiberal state capture in Hungary, a driver that weakens Access to justice index — a worsening welfare path.

On 30 December 2011 the National Assembly adopted Act CCVI of 2011 on the right to freedom of conscience and religion and on the legal status of churches, which entered into force in 2012 and deregistered hundreds of recognised churches unless a two-thirds Assembly re-recognised them. The European Court of Human Rights later found against Hungary in Magyar Keresztény Mennonita Egyház and Others. This Fact is that dated church-status statute. It is not the 2011 Fundamental Law taken alone, not a later concordat, and not a personality. Official text sits in the National Legal Database; the ECtHR judgment is the independent file.
