On 20 April 2021 army spokesman Azem Bermandoa Agouna announced on Chadian state television that President Idriss Déby Itno had died of wounds sustained at the FACT front and that a Transitional Military Council of fifteen generals, chaired by his son Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, would take power for eighteen months, with a nationwide curfew and closed borders. A charter published the next day replaced the 2018 constitution and made the CMT president head of state and commander of the armed forces.
Context
Under the 2018 constitution the National Assembly speaker, Haroun Kabadi, should have exercised provisional powers and an election should have been called within 45 to 90 days. Kabadi is unresolved. Idriss Déby is named in prose and is not minted. France defended the takeover as needed for stability. FACT is a neighbouring rebel file, not a unique death size here.
20 April television announcement; 21 April published charter. Stored as one 20 April 2021 Fact. Keep Army names Mahamat Déby CMT president the day Idriss Déby dies on 2021-04-20 separate from neighbouring Déby instruments.
The President of Chad is head of state and commander of the armed forces. He can chair a military council, take a charter, and be confirmed by a constitutional council. He does not write Amnesty briefing notes, CNDH tallies, or Reuters forensic reviews.

What the sources establish
Al Jazeera carries the official instrument or communique. BBC News records the same dated act independently.
Established: State television named him CMT president on 20 April 2021. A charter replaced the 2018 constitution. The speaker-vacancy rule was not followed.
Not established: A unique 20 April FACT death integer, or that Haroun Kabadi or Idriss Déby are minted Person rows.
Sharing the announcement with a spokesman is not a reason to drop 20 April 2021.. A later repeal, court stay, or successor order would be a different Fact with a different date. That pair identifies Army names Mahamat Déby CMT president the day Idriss Déby dies, not a later speech about Army names Mahamat Déby CMT president the day Idriss Déby dies.
Co-authors and later implementers named in Context remain on the file. If a later repeal, stay, or successor instrument exists, it needs its own date and its own row. The contribution described on this Person row is limited to He accepted and held the CMT title. That limit is the alternative to treating office-holding as authorship of every later series.
