On 6 November 2012 the Court of Justice held in Commission v Hungary (C-286/12) that suddenly lowering the compulsory retirement age of judges, prosecutors, and notaries from 70 to 62 breached equal-treatment law. The underlying cardinal judicial-status statute had entered into force on 1 January 2012. This Fact is that dated judgment. It is not the 2011 National Judicial Office statute taken alone, not a later funds-linked court reform, and not a personality. The CJEU judgment is the official file; the Venice Commission opinion on the judicial-status acts is the independent file.
